1) Model Town — leafy, planned, and where the good hotels cluster. The Country Inn and Radisson are both here, both under $75. Walkable to decent restaurants and 15 minutes to the station. Base here as a first-timer.
2) Civil Lines — older, more atmospheric, with the DAV College campus and the sports-goods factories that make Jalandhar's name. Fewer hotels but the Ramada Encore is good value at $55.
3) Old city (around Bhagat Singh Chowk and Rainak Bazaar) — dense, noisy, but the real Jalandhar. Stay only if you want to shop hosiery and street food. No hotels above 3-star. 4) Adampur and Kartarpur — technically outside city limits, worth day-tripping to for Kartarpur Corridor access to Pakistan (Indian passport holders, 15-day permit).
Skip: Bus Stand area, Nakodar Road industrial belt. Both are for local business, not tourists.
